Make alias for mac. On your Mac, do one of the following: Select the item, then choose File Make Alias. You can create as many aliases for an item as you want, then drag them to other folders or to the desktop. Press Option-Command while you drag the original item to another folder or to the desktop to create an alias. In the Mail app on your Mac, choose Mail Preferences, then click Accounts. Click the Email Address pop-up menu, choose Edit Email Addresses, then do one of the following: Add an alias: Click the Add button, then enter a name and email address. Edit an alias: Click the Full Name or Email Address field, then change the name or email address. Because the Mac lets you create multiple aliases, you can effectively place the file in each of those folders (even though it really resides in only one place). To create an alias, highlight the original icon and press Command+L or choose File and then Make Alias.

To see the size of a specific file or folder, click it once and then press Command-I. To see storage information about your Mac, click the Apple menu in the top-left of your screen. Choose About This Mac and click the Storage tab. For Time Machine backups, it's good to use a drive that has at least twice the storage capacity of your Mac.

Use the latest version of macOS

Update to the latest version of macOS. Choose Apple menu  > About This Mac > Software Update. If you’re using macOS Mojave or earlier, choose Apple menu  > App Store. See if there’s an update available.

Sign in

Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Apple ID. If you’re using macOS Mojave or earlier, click iCloud. Enter your Apple ID. When you sign in, iCloud is turned on automatically.
